Only decades ago a Blanket Chest may have been referred to as a Hope Chest. Often given as a engagement gift it served as a collection point for many important mementos. When questioned as to why this piece was so significant to him, Thomas replied "as a child I have vivid memories of time spent going through my mothers Hope Chest. As I picked up each keep sake I would ask what it was, why it had been important to her. I have very fond memories of the time spent exploring the contents of my mothers Hope Chest.
This chest produced in cherry can be produced in a variety of hardwoods. Thomas's favorite is Walnut with Ambrosia Maple Raised Panels. The chest measures 48" wide 22" deep 23" high. The drawer slides from side to side and lifts out easily. The bottom of the drawer and chest are made from air dried aromatic eastern cedar (produces fresh scent and gives some protection against moths).
New bedroom designs will be posted in the future that go with the Blanket Chest style.
